Hello friends of Saving Shelter Pets! I hope this newsletter finds you warm and not buried under too much snow.  SSP has been very busy already this year, and we’d like to share some of our most recent successes with you all, to warm your heart in the midst of this cold winter. The final tallies are in, and it’s another great year of helping animals at SSP! The total numbers of companion animals we helped in 2007 are as follows:

Rescue & Transport – transports completed: 19
Rescue & Transport – animals saved: 668 (660 dogs, 8 cats)

Puppy Promises – puppies saved: 65 litters, 351 puppies (included in rescue total above)
Puppy Promises – momma dogs spayed: 65

Spay/Neuter – dogs altered: 171
Spay/Neuter – cats altered: 101

Bernies’ Buddies – dogs treated for heartworm: 23 (included in rescue total above)

Rescue & Transport – 2008 so far
SSP has successfully completed two transports already in 2008. We moved 48 dogs and puppies on January 9 (Rescue #45), and another 40 dogs and puppies on February 6 (Rescue #46). The next rescue is currently in the planning stages, and will be on the road in mid-March! The photos and bios for all the lucky doggies saved so far in 2008 will be up on the website soon!
